Bio
Zakiya Whatley, PhD, earned her PhD in Genetics & Genomics and Cellular & Molecular Biology at Duke University. She has taught at Gettysburg College and the University of Maryland, College Park. She is the co-host and executive producer of Dope Labs, a Spotify Original podcast exploring the intersection of science and pop culture, which has been nominated for two Webby Awards and a Podcast Academy award. Dr. Whatley also hosts the Webby-nominated Breakthrough series, a podcast by Boston Children's. A few months ago, Dr. Whatley also co-produced a planetarium film called “Remixed: The Unexpected Side of Science,” co-produced with the Boston Museum of Science, where it is currently showing.
