The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is excited to announce the new Global Travel Fellowship, sponsored by the UMB Center for Global Engagement.

For information on the GSA's standard Travel Award, please visit Travel Fellowship

The GSA Global Travel Fellowship is intended to encourage and support student participation in global scientific meetings. Whether virtual, in the US, or in an international setting, the GSA and Center for Global Engagement believe in the value of networking and collaborating with researchers worldwide.

The award supports a maximum of $750 per student and is restricted to students who are presenting (poster or oral) at a conference, involved in panel discussions, or who have leadership roles within the organization sponsoring the conference. Only one award per student within a calendar year. Please email GSA to verify if you qualify.

Applications open on March 1st, 2022 and will remain open until August 31st, 2022. This award will be given on a rolling basis for the period it is open. Like our Travel Award, an award is not guaranteed and the award amount may vary depending on the number of applications received. If a student has other sources of funding, they are not excluded from receiving aid from the GSA. However, the GSA recommends not depending solely on GSA support, if possible.

Please note: approval to travel internationally requires students to complete an international travel request form. Please visit this link for more information about international travel requirements.

The application must be completely filled out and signed by the appropriate authorities, including the program’s GSA representative. Any incomplete or unsigned applications will not be considered. Since the fellowship is intended to support students who will experience financial hardship by attending a meeting, expenses such as food, lodging, transportation to and from the meeting, and registration fees are reimbursable. Rental cars, except in rare cases, are generally not considered necessary for attendance at a scientific meeting. The GSA reserves the right to award fellowships as it deems necessary. All decisions are final.

We are now accepting only Electronic Submissions. Completed applications may be submitted electronically to the GSA Treasurer (umb.gsa.treasurer@gmail.com). Please scan all documents and attach as a single document.
